It is official. Yala Hylan Blvd is open.
Our second Staten Island location at 1898 Hylan Blvd is now serving the full Yala menu to the East Shore. Same recipes. Same portions. Same mission. If you live in New Dorp, Midland Beach, Dongan Hills, Grant City, or anywhere along the Hylan Boulevard corridor, you no longer have to drive to Eltingville to get your Chicken Over Rice fix.
The grand opening is Friday, March 13, 2026. Come through, bring your appetite, and help us celebrate.
The Location
1898 Hylan Blvd sits in the heart of one of Staten Island's busiest commercial stretches. The New Dorp and Midland Beach section of Hylan Boulevard carries some of the highest daily traffic on the island, and the intersection with New Dorp Lane is one of the most active retail crossroads in the borough. If you have driven this stretch, you have seen the spot.

If you have been to the Eltingville location at 3271 Richmond Ave, you know what to expect. The recipes are identical. The portions are identical. The quality is identical. Consistency is not something we compromise on.
Why Hylan Blvd
This location has been in the works since we announced it alongside our West Brighton location earlier this year. The reason we chose this stretch of Hylan Blvd comes down to one thing: the East Shore needed a Yala.
Residents in the New Dorp, Midland Beach, and Grant City areas have been telling us for a while that driving to Eltingville for halal comfort food was the only option. That is a 15 to 20 minute trip each way depending on traffic. For a weeknight dinner or a quick lunch, that is not practical. Now there is a Yala right in the middle of the daily commute for thousands of East Shore families.
The Hylan Blvd corridor also has a gap in the halal dining category. There are excellent restaurants all along this stretch - Italian, Mexican, Chinese, Greek diners, pizza shops - but quality halal American comfort food has been missing. We are here to fill that gap.
What This Means for the Mission
Every meal at Yala Hylan Blvd funds the same mission as every meal at Eltingville. Yala operates under the Umma Foundation, and every dollar of profit goes directly to the Trucks of Hope humanitarian program - delivering hot meals to homeless and underserved communities.
A second active location means roughly double the volume, which means roughly double the impact. More platters sold. More meals delivered to people in need. This is the math that drives everything we do.
When you order at 1898 Hylan Blvd, you are not just buying lunch. You are feeding someone who does not have the option to buy their own.
Grand Opening - Friday, March 13
We want to celebrate this with the community. Come out on Friday, March 13 to mark the official grand opening. The full menu will be running, the team will be ready, and we will have some surprises for the first customers through the door.
Spread the word. Tell your neighbors, your coworkers, your mosque community, your school parent groups. The more people who come out on opening day, the bigger the impact we can make from day one.
Three Locations Across the Island
With Hylan Blvd now open, Yala has two active locations on Staten Island:
- Yala Eltingville - 3271 Richmond Ave (South Shore)
- Yala Hylan Blvd - 1898 Hylan Blvd (East Shore)
Our West Brighton location at 708 Castleton Ave on the North Shore is still on the way. When it opens, Staten Island will have a Yala within a reasonable drive from every part of the island.
